In the world of young learners, the classroom plays a crucial role in nurturing creativity and collaboration.
For our latest design at Cănuță Ionescu Primary School, we’ve created a dynamic space where children aged 6-10 can explore, experiment, and grow. The goal is to craft an environment that feels both inspiring and supportive, sparking curiosity while providing the comfort needed to thrive.

Key features that define the classroom’s engaging design:
1.Comfort and Fluidity
The foundation of this classroom is comfort and adaptability. With ergonomically designed furniture and flexible layouts, children have the freedom to shift between activities, fostering both individual focus and collaborative work. The fluid lines of the seating and desk arrangements create a harmonious flow that encourages movement and interaction.
2.Nude and Deep Blue Tones
To create a calming yet energizing atmosphere, we’ve incorporated a blend of nude and deep blue shades throughout the space. The soft, neutral nude tones bring warmth and a sense of serenity, while the deep blue accents create focus areas, enhancing concentration and creativity. These colors work in perfect harmony to form an inviting and balanced environment.
3.Interactive Cork Walls
The cork walls are a standout feature in this design, providing a tactile and dynamic space where students can pin their projects, ideas, and inspirations. These walls not only celebrate student creativity but also serve as ever-evolving showcases of their work, turning the classroom into a living reflection of the children’s journeys.
4.Ergonomic, Playful Design
Incorporating fluid lines and ergonomic shapes, the design focuses on comfort and movement. The furniture pieces are thoughtfully designed to fit the natural contours of the body, encouraging healthy posture and active engagement. Playful curves and shapes invite a sense of joy while maintaining functionality and ease.
This classroom isn’t just a place to learn—it’s a space where children are free to imagine, create, and grow, building the foundation for a lifetime of discovery.
The interior design of educational spaces has a great responsibility for its active contribution to the learning process.
This classroom project is intended for the zero class at “Cănuţă Ionescu” Primary School in Urlati, Prahova and is part of the program “A classroom like home” developed by Procter & Gamble and dm in collaboration with Pavoni Studio. For yet another academic year we can see that the transformation of education is always possible if we are willing to take small steps.
